Greece produced about 5M HL in 1984, number decreased to 2.7M HL by 2011 and now hovering around 2M HL per annum.

There are about 180,000 growers and 12,000 commercial wineries. Average acreage per grower is a 0.1ha, meaning that there are a lot of part time growers or operate tiny family vineyards.
