Bethel Heights

Located in Eola-Amity Hills, is a family affair that started back in 1977 when Terry Casteel and Marilyn Webb, Ted Casteel and Pat Duddley acquired an abandoned walnut grove with the vision to plant grapes in Eola-Amity Hills. Ted Casteel managed the vineyard, Terry made the wine, while Marilyn and Pat managed operations and marketing. To this day, many of the family members are involved with the winery with the second and third generation fully involved.

Bethel Heights Estate Pinot Noir

Estate Pinot Noir come from three different vineyard sites, Bethel Heights, Justice and Lewman. The Estate Pinot combines the youthfulness of some of the vines that were planted in 2002, as well as some of the original, old, own-rooted vines. Young vines bring fruitiness and intensity, while old vines bring more concentration, complexity and broadness.

Vinification for the 2022 Vintage

Fruit is hand-harvested and picked at different times to ensure optimal ripeness for each plot. Fruit was destemmed and pressed into a variety of different vessels for a 4 day cold soak. Gentle punch downs were utilized to extract flavor and then aged in French barriques- 30% new- for about 11 months.

Tasting Notes

Red fruited, bing cherry and fresh strawberry, wrapped by savory notes of black tea and forest floor. The palate is fresh with a nice lift and long finish.
