Mantinia, a mountainous region in Central Peloponnese in Southern Greece. A small region, with just about 500 ha under vine on a high elevation plateau at about 2100 feet in average. Mantinia is exclusively devoted to the aromatic and late ripening Moschofilero, indigenous to the area and seldomly found anywhere else in Greece. Traditionally made in a Vin Gris style, Moschofilero is a pink-skinned variety, producing light bodied wines that rarely exceed 12% of alcohol, are bone-dry, perfumed, aromatic and refreshing.
Yiannis Tselepos studied oenology at the University of Dijon in Burgundy. Upon his return, he started his eponymous winery in 1989 and has been a driving force for the revival of the indigenous grape variety, Moschofilero.
LIght color concentration with light copper hue, due to the pink hue Moschofilero has. Nose is driven by floral notes, honeysuckle, yellow flowers as well as stone fruit. Underripe peach, green apple and honeyed quality. The palate is fresher, bone dry with long finish.
