Vincent Mothe, Chardonnay, Chablis, Burgundy, France 2023

Vincent Mothe took over the Domaine from his father Guy who inherited a small parcel, and little by little grew the domaine to about 30 ha. Based at the commune of Fontenay-pres-Chablis, they work with about 30 ha of land. In addition to grapes, they also raise cattle and grow wheat. 

In the vineyard, they practice Lutte raisonnée, while in the cellar they work with stainless steel tanks for fermentation, malolactic fermentation, and aging. Old oak is used only for their Grand Cru wines. 

Chardonnay, Chablis 2023 - shows purity and focus. Steely, salty and a little reductive. Malolactic fermentation offers a little roundness, but doesn't quite add that much richness. Nice leesy quality softens the palate.
